Leading Lights Early Intervention comprises of health and education staff. Most of our therapy is delivered through fun and playful experiences. Play is a very effective way to provide children with positive therapy experiences that work to assist new neural pathways to develop in the brain. This can assist multiple areas of brain functioning including supporting trauma recovery, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, sensory processing speed, anxiety and depression. We combine mainstream therapy with real experience and other alternative, professional intervention, and believe in meeting each child for who they are and in their space- they are quite simply the leading lights.
We focus on identifying the root causes of developmental delays, behaviours, and disabilities, including early childhood trauma, gut health, epigenetics, and environmental factors. This whole-of-child approach enables therapies that support real healing, not just coping strategies, and helps children reach their full potential.
Occupational therapy (OT) is a dynamic field that focuses on helping individuals develop, recover, or maintain the skills needed for daily life activities. For children, this means improving abilities that are essential for school, play, socializing, and self-care. Pediatric occupational therapists work with kids to enhance fine motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, and cognitive function, supporting their overall development.
In the pediatric sphere, OT is especially beneficial for children with conditions like autism, ADHD, developmental delays, or physical disabilities. Therapists use engaging, child-friendly strategies to address challenges, fostering independence and boosting self-confidence. Whether it’s teaching a child how to tie their shoes, managing sensory sensitivities, or improving social skills, OT equips children with the tools they need to thrive. Ultimately, occupational therapy helps children lead more fulfilling, functional, and enjoyable lives by empowering them to navigate their world with greater ease and confidence.
